Savannah, Georgia's first city, was founded in 1733 as America's 13th and final colony. The elegance and refinement with which Savannah blends its Southern nuances makes this destination a perfect combination of old-world beauty and modern-day charm. In addition it‚s amazing architectural details; Savannah has intoxicated countless visitors with its culture, shopping, and recreational activities during the day along with great dining and entertainment during the evenings, making it one of this country's most popular travel destinations.
Yet, Savannah also has a dark, mysterious element to it which has fascinated paranormal researchers and ghost tour enthusiasts for decades. The second bloodiest battle of the civil war was fought in Savannah and, were it not for the quick-thinking and strength of its citizens, the city would have burned to the ground by Sherman during his famed March to the Sea. In fact, Savannah was actually given to Sherman as a Christmas present by President Abraham Lincoln himself.
